What does a business systems consultant do?

A business systems consultant looks at how work actually moves through a business, finds where it gets stuck or depends too heavily on one person, and redesigns that process so it runs the same way every time. In a small service business, that one person is usually the owner.

The work starts with questions, not software: what starts a job, what information it needs, who handles each step, and what happens next. From there, each step gets eliminated, simplified, delegated or automated, and the consultant builds or connects whatever the new process needs.

At Roberts Systems, I do this for owner-operated service businesses. I start by finding where the business depends on you more than it needs to, fix the process before adding any tool, and build around the way the business already runs. Most custom projects fall between $3,500 and $10,000+, scoped and fixed before work begins.
